C4D: Advocacy

We believe films can make a difference.

Here are some of our films which brought a cause to the attention of the general public.

Flooded Cellar is proud to have collaborated with NGO Hands off Cain in their successful campaign towards a UN moratorium on the Death Penalty. 'Amina Lawal - In the Name of God' was shown as a CNN Insight special on Thanksgiving Day and was described on air as "An Extraordinary Documentary" by CNN anchor Jonathan Mann.

Since 2005 we have been filming with the Hadzabe Tribe in Northern Tanzania. The hunter-gatherers were recently recognised by National Geographic as the oldest tribe on the planet. They are fighting for their land rights and we are working with their activists to make their voices heard on the world stage through our film 'Hadza Voices'.

For more than thirty years Elisabeth Neuenschwander has worked with the nomads of Baluchistan, the desert area bordering Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran. Our film 'An Afghan Future' concentrates on her work as an educator of Afghan refugees as she tries to help them to recover from the impact of 'talibanisation'.

'The Horse Doctors' celebrates the work of the Brooke Hospital, an international charity founded in the 1920s which is dedicated to the care of working horses and donkeys in many parts of the developing world. The film follows their veterinary officers who work in Pakistan and is narrated by author Magdalen Nabb, whose children's story 'The Magic Horse' is an international best seller.

'Carina's Story' promotes the United Nation's special agency IFAD, an international financial institution. This film follows an IFAD employee Carina Giorgi as she travels to Madagascar to see first-hand the positive impact that a rural development project has had on one of the most drought prone areas of that nation.
