Documentaries : An Afghan Future
"The most important issue in this region is the issue of education !"-best selling investigative journalist, Ahmed Rashid
This documentary focuses on the self determination of a number of Afghan refugees living in the border areas of Pakistan and reveals how they have adapted to their dreadful conditions and struggled to maintain an education for themselves and their children.
There are many schools in the refugee camps of Quetta and Peshawar established to combat the impact of the Pakistani madrassas on young Afghans. This impact is starkly outlined by Ahmed Rashid, author of 'Taliban'. He underlines the importance for the young to have a sense of cultural identity as they grow up in a foreign land. He points out that during the nineties most of the taliban came out of these Pakistani madrassas brainwashed and politicised. The next generation is attempting not to make the same mistake again.
