This is the story of a successful integrated rural development project in southern Madagascar. In the period from 1996 to 2008, the PHBM encouraged development in production, local governance and the physical and social infrastructure of the area. The results were impressive and the economy continues to grow a year after the project closure. It represents a model for integrated rural development in other areas of Madagascar and further afield.
